Rocky Creek is a brand new (late 2010) Hillwood Communities master-planned Texas Hill Country community in southeast Travis County. It is known by its abundance of trees, serene natural environment and fabulous views and vistas. Within Rocky Creek runs 5,000 feet of namesake Rocky Creek frontage. The community rests upon 300 acres of unspoiled Texas Hill Country topography.
Homes for sale in Rocky Creek
If you don’t see any homes for sale, it’s simply because there are no homes for sale and no market established yet. You may contact me for more information about what’s happening in Rocky Creek.
Rocky Creek Location
Rocky Creek is off Hwy. 71 northwest of the RM 620 intersection in Bee Cave. Take Hamilton Pool Road | FM 3238 west southwest six miles to the entrance of the community on the left. It is just past Crumley Ranch Road and not as far as RM 12 that goes south into Dripping Springs. Once inside Rocky Creek, you will see what Texas Hill Country living boasts are all about. There will be fewer than 400 homes once completed, and residents will enjoy a nice package of on-site amenities. Austin is 22 miles away — about a 30-35-minute drive — and San Antonio is fewer than 80 miles to the south. Next door is the Valley Lake Hills subdivision and on its southern edge is the Travis-Hays County line.
Rocky Creek Homebuilders
A couple well known Austin area homebuilders are meeting the challenge to build great homes in this great space. They are Drees Custom Homes and Highland Homes. They have home sites ranging from 70 to 110-foot lots with some 80′s in between. Many are heavily treed, oversized, in cul-de-sacs and have great views. There are also a few large estate lots with the same qualities. I have dealt with each homebuilder on occasion in Austin and have always been impressed. They are building 2,500 to 4,000-square foot homes ranging in price from $325,000 into the lower $600′s. Drees Homes has sold several already and has another nine ready for purchase. Highland Homes has two available now between $400,000 and $526,000. Three more will be ready in January priced mid $400′s to upper $400′s. The two builders are a good fit for Rocky Creek.
Rocky Creek Amenities
The biggest amenity has got to be proximity to Hamilton Pool. If you’ve never been there, you cannot understand what I mean by that. The place is breathtakingly, awesomely spectacular. It’s a natural swimming hole of maybe an acre or two in size with a waterfall plunging from a rock cliff 50 feet above. There are remnants of a cave underneath and walking trails all around …and over to the nearby Pedernales River. The water is usually very clean (exception: after heavy rains) and there are shady and sunny places for spreading a blanket to relax or picnic.
Rocky Creek amenities will be in a resort-style setting and include a community swimming pool, play areas, park, and 10-foot wide primitive hiking trail. Along the trail and Rocky Creek the terrain is punctuated with wet ponds and limestone outcroppings developers say are similar to the formations found at Hamilton Pool itself.
Certainly not least is the nearby Shield Ranch Nature Conservancy, a 4,700-acre former ranch donated to the Nature Conservancy for preservation purposes. It is filled with outdoor challenges with its abundance of multi-skill level trails. Pedernales Falls State Park is not far and neither is Longhorn Cave — both up Hwy. 71 towards Marble Falls.
There is no golf within Rocky Creek, but it is not far away. Private and public courses are in Bee Cave, Lakeway, Marble Falls and Austin. Five miles away, Lake Travis beckons sailors, boaters, jet skiers, wind surfers, SCUBA divers, fishermen, swimmers and cliff divers.
Rocky Creek Schools
Located within the Lake Travis Independent School District (LTISD), Rocky Creek school children will attend one of the nation’s top rated schools — Bee Cave Elementary. Lake Travis Middle School and Lake Travis High School are the others in the district. University and college campuses are the short drive into Austin or some of its suburbs. Austin Community College is down Hwy. 71 near Oak Hill.
Rocky Creek Shopping and Dining Opportunities
Bountiful is the way to describe the dining and shopping opportunities in Bee Cave. Though the town is only 2,200 in population, there are two very strong, new malls. Hill Country Galleria and the Shop at The Galleria are relatively new projects. The City of Bee Cave city hall is located in The Hill Country Galleria along with its #2 best public library in the U.S. (see my Bee Cave page). Going in a northerly direction on RM 620, you will come to the Lakeway Commons shopping center, one of Lakeway’s original new-concept strip centers. The brand new Backyard concert venue is also right here in Bee Cave.
