Oakmont Forest Park is a public park with playscape, picnic tables, grill, drinking fountain, swings, basketball court and mature Live Oak trees. It is located on Colby Lane on the southeast side of the neighborhood. This is a well-treed neighborhood with a low annual HOA fee of $125 and very high pride of ownership, but has no pool or other amenities.

Oakmont Forest is between Highway 183 and Lakeline Blvd. in south central Cedar Park. A greenbelt separates the south side from the Westside at Buttercup neighborhood and its Cave Preserve. Lakeline Blvd. is the west boundary and Shady Oaks neighborhood is the east boundary. Highway 183 is one mile to the east. FM 1431 is one mile+ to the north and RR 620 is four miles to the south. A commute into Austin takes 25-40 minutes, depending on time of day and traffic. A Cap Metro rail station with park-and-ride is four miles southeast near Highway 183 and Lakeline Blvd. A drive to Austin International Airport (ABIA) is around 25 minutes via toll roads or 40 off them.

Just across Lakeline Blvd. in the Westside at Buttercup neighborhood is the new Westside Elementary School. High schoolers attend Vista Ridge and middle schoolers attend Henry next door to Vista Ridge. They are each part of the Leander ISD. Private schools include Summit Christian Academy 2.5 miles southwest on Cypress Creek Road, Hilltop Christian Academy 3 miles southeast on Highway 183, and Harbor Christian Academy 4 miles west on FM 1431. More than a dozen private pre-schools are in the area.
