Windmill Ranch is a brand new 65-acre community west of Georgetown. Only 13 lots will be here in all. They are being cleared and a few slabs are being formed and poured. It is another great Wilde Wood Custom Homes project wherein buyers choose their lot and floorplan in a one-stop shop scenario. Lots are big — in excess of 5 acres each — so I advise clients to be absolutely certain they want country estate living because this is it!

Windmill Ranch Location
Getting here is not a casual drive in the park. It’s out of the way, which is exactly the appeal to the place. And once you’re here, you’re on your very own parcel of Texas Hill Country grandeur. There aren’t many people around — just you and the wildlife, mostly. It’s on CR 245 a half mile past Jennings Branch. That places it a mile and a half north of RR 2338 | Williams Drive, 3/4 mile south of CR 246, 2 miles north of FM 3405, and 2 1/2 miles west of Hwy. 95. From a wider perspective, it’s four miles north of Lake Georgetown, a mile and a half west of Sun City Texas and eight miles west of I-35.
The Windmill Ranch Setting
Here in Windmill Ranch, the namesake windmill still stands in its original location. Soon it will be moved to the entrance of the community for all to gaze upon and enjoy. The windmill evokes thoughts of times past when living was an endeavor for homesteaders and livestock alike. Thankfully we live in modern times and the homes here bare little resemblance to those from yesteryear. Roads are better, conveniences are plentiful and close, and good schools are nearby as well. What seems little changed is the land itself. You still have broad Texas Hill Country vistas, rolling hills and pastureland, nice stands of live oaks, and conducive soil upon which to build your dream home estate.
Windmill Ranch Schools and Government
The City of Georgetown’s reach stops east of Windmill Ranch, so government and services are provided by Williamson County. Taxes are much lower as a result and restrictions are fewer, too. Though it’s not in the city proper, it’s still in the Georgetown Independent School District (GISD), where children get good quality instruction. If a specific school matters to you, be sure to know the present GISD boundaries or if open enrolling is an option.
